PE-Backed Civil Engineering Firm Unifies Financial Reporting & Accelerates Close with OneStream
Discover how AIT, a WilliamsMarston Company, helped a PE‑backed civil engineering firm replace manual, Excel‑based reporting across five ERPs with a unified platform that accelerated close, improved accuracy, and scaled to support its buy‑and‑build strategy.
The Challenge
The firm’s existing fragmented ERP data and manual Excel processes slowed reporting and hindered acquisition scalability.
Monthly reporting relied on a large Excel workbook that pulled data from more than five ERP systems, requiring days of manual preparation and creating substantial manual-error risk. Finance needed a faster, more reliable way to centralize and unify financial data to improve accuracy and reduce prep time. The team lacked the ability to generate accurate reports quickly and support ad hoc reporting needs. The prior setup did not seamlessly support future acquisitions central to the company’s buy‑and‑build strategy.
The Solution
AIT designed and delivered a comprehensive OneStream solution that unified financial data, automated reporting processes, and prepared the organization for continued growth.
A centralized chart of accounts was established, and financial data from multiple systems was unified into a single reporting structure. The solution included a direct connection to Eltek VantagePoint and standardized flat‑file uploads for other ERP systems, enabling consistent and consolidated reporting.
Automated consolidations were implemented alongside external and management reporting, standardized statement of cash flows and rollforward reporting, and intercompany solutions. AIT also introduced a repeatable M&A onboarding playbook to streamline the integration of newly acquired entities. All core financial statements, including cash flow and bank reporting, were fully populated in OneStream to ensure consistent and accurate reporting across the organization.
To support leadership decision‑making, the solution included executive dashboards, driver‑based planning capabilities, and detailed workforce planning, enabling improved forecasting accuracy and enhanced visibility into financial performance.
OneStream Solutions Delivered
- Phase 1: Consolidations & Automated External / Mgmt. Reporting, Automated SCF and RF forms, I/C Solutions, Rapid M&A Onboarding Playbook
- Phase 2: Executive Dashboarding, Driver-based Planning, incl. People Planning
The Result
Following implementation, five ERP systems were unified into a single reporting structure, and manual Excel‑based processes were eliminated, enabling faster production of financial statements and KPI reporting.
The solution was deployed across subsidiaries in a rapid 14 week implementation, delivering automated consolidated financials, including cash flow and bank reporting.
With manual preparation significantly reduced, the finance team shifted its focus from spreadsheet maintenance to analysis and strategic decision‑making. The organization now operates on a scalable financial platform that supports ongoing growth and efficient integration of future acquisitions.
