Tax Consultant

As a Tax Consultant, you will focus primarily on the preparation of ASC 740 income tax provisions, their corresponding memos, tax compliance and research. You will apply your knowledge to understand potential tax issues, recognize and communicate potential risks to the client, and work with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. In this role, you will:
ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Provisions
- Proactively apply ASC 740-10 standards
- Prepare provision workpapers
- Assess and prepare footnote disclosures in compliance with 740-10-55
Tax Compliance
- Assist with engagement management by planning tax processes and procedures
- Conduct detailed reviews on all returns and appropriate review notes for preparers, raising potential tax issues and identifying book-to-tax differences
Research
- Appropriately identify circumstances requiring in-depth research
- Concisely frame the issue, conduct research and document conclusions
Tax Consulting
- Gather relevant information for controversy work
- Document all significant tax positions by creating memos to the files and ensure proper supporting documentation is maintained
Interim Management
- Assist clients’ finance and/or tax teams with short-term tax support
- Serve as interim Tax Manager or in similar tax and valuation advisory roles

Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; advanced degree is preferred
- CPA Preferred
- 2 – 5 years of public accounting experience; corporate taxation; accounting for income taxes experience preferred
- Experience with tax research databases, tax preparation software, and standard tax workpapers
- Experience with tax provision software preferred
