Managing Director – Advisory
Heather brings more than 25 years of financial consulting and executive advisory experience to WilliamsMarston LLC. Prior to WilliamsMarston, Heather was a Managing Director at Chord Advisors, LLC, a boutique accounting advisory firm serving more than 400 pre-IPO, public and private equity-backed growth companies on a variety of technical accounting, SEC reporting and capital markets transactions. While at Chord Advisors, Heather advised clients on a variety of complex matters such as revenue recognition, leases, segment reporting, and derivative accounting. Her broad industry expertise includes life sciences, cryptocurrency, consumer products, and technology.
Prior to Chord Advisors, Heather was a Director of Accounting Policy at BlackRock where she led the global implementation of the new revenue standard. She also represented BlackRock on the AICPA’s asset management revenue recognition task force, where she contributed to more than ten interpretive white papers for inclusion in the AICPA’s Revenue Recognition Guide and presented task force recommendations to FinREC. Heather also led the implementation of the new lease standard and was instrumental in leading the integration and governance of a new global policy library of over 1,000 documents.
Prior to BlackRock, Heather was the Assistant Controller of Global M&A and Controller of Technical COE at GE. In addition to addressing complex transactions on topics such as investments, consolidation, and intangibles, she led GE’s global implementation of the new business combinations standard and participated in over 120 M&A transactions. Heather also served as an Industry Fellow (seconded) at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (“FASB”) for two years, where she participated as a project manager on the new revenue recognition project team and worked on Emerging Issue Task Force (“EITF”) issues. Prior to GE, Heather rose to the level of Director at KPMG LLP in their technical accounting advisory group. In that capacity, Heather assisted clients in analyzing structures for accounting implications, provided on-call accounting assistance, and presented training on topics such as consolidation, business combinations and deferred taxes.
Heather is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a Master in Business Administration in Finance from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and a Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where she graduated with high distinction.
