Angela V. Butler

Angela brings years of financial reporting and technical accounting experience to WilliamsMarston. Since joining WilliamsMarston, Angela has advised clients in the biotechnology, software, financial services, consumer products and cryptocurrency industries. She has advised clients on a variety of complex matters including the new leasing standard, asset acquisitions, software, and accounting for warrants.

Prior to WilliamsMarston, Angela was a Director at Chord Advisors, LLC, a boutique accounting advisory firm serving more than 400 pre-IPO, public and private equity-backed growth companies on a variety of technical accounting, SEC reporting and capital markets transactions. While at Chord Advisors, Angela advised clients on a variety of complex matters including revenue recognition, financial instruments, leases, software, business combinations, asset acquisitions, and restructuring. Her broad industry expertise includes biotech, digital entertainment, software, technology and cryptocurrency trading.

Prior to Chord Advisors, Angela spent 13 years at American Express where she held a variety of roles with increasing responsibility in financial reporting, accounting policy, and technical accounting. Her most recent role was in the Amex Global Accounting Policy and Advisory Group, based in Stamford, Connecticut, she provided US GAAP and IFRS support on transactions and accounting policies on a variety of technical accounting matters, including implementation of the financial instruments recognition and measurement standard. In this role, Angela supported the corporate card, merchant services, and prepaid products businesses, as well as the loyalty rewards programs and the corporate segment. Angela began her career in Deloitte LLP’s audit practice in Stamford, Connecticut in the retail and consumer products practice.

Angela is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Iona College, where she graduated cum laude.
