Tax Manager

As a Tax Manager, you will focus primarily on the preparation and review of ASC 740 income tax provisions and corresponding memos, tax compliance and research. You will advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives; applying your knowledge to understand potential tax issues and communicate potential risks and or changes in tax policy. As one of the client’s primary contact points for all complex tax issues, you will evaluate and select alternative actions to lessen the tax burden and cost of compliance, as well as identify different methods of compliance with tax regulation. In this role, you will:
ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Provisions
- Proactively apply ASC 740-10 standards
- Present components of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positions to the client as well as other complexities surrounding ASC 740-10
- Interact with external auditors regarding conclusions reached and calculations performed
Tax Compliance
- Conduct top-level review of tax returns and resolve all tax issues with client
- Manage client relationships/expectations in accordance with the project
Research
- Appropriately identify circumstances requiring in-depth research
- Concisely frame the issue, conduct research and document conclusions
- Present findings to client and other third-party advisors
Tax Consulting
- Develop, recommend, and implement efficient and effective methods to maximize client tax benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes
- Serve as a technical resource
- Provide assistance with tax examination support
- Frame projects and issues for effective delegation to Consultants where applicable
Interim Management
- Assist client’s finance and/or tax teams with short-term tax support
- Serve as interim Tax Manager or in similar tax management roles

Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; advanced degree is preferred
- CPA, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction) or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent
- 5 – 8 years of public accounting firm experience; corporate taxation and accounting for income taxes experience a must
- Experience with tax research databases, tax preparation software, and standard tax workpapers
- Experience with tax provision software
